Colourised SEM image showing the cross section of a microtubular fuel cell with a hierarchical microstructure. The slight tilt of the sample reveals the inner surface of the tube, which reminded the authors of a solar eclipse unlike any other. Some lens flare and stars were added to complete the effect!

NEW PRODUCTS FOCUS
New Multi-Gauge Controller
The Kurt J. Lesker Company® recently announced the addition of a new multi-gauge controller to their pressure measurement product line. The MGC4000 multi-gauge controller has the ability to display pressure measurements from up to 10 different vacuum gauges simultaneously. The instrument, able to provide pressure measurements from 1000 Torr to 2x10-11 Torr, can be configured to display up to six gauges in a single screen or any number of gauges can be assigned to various screens for auto scrolling of display. Customers can easily configure the MGC4000 to their exact specifications on our website by specifying the number of gauges, set points, and AI/AO they need. This allows them to only purchase the level of functionality that they need, offering the user low cost of ownership and unparalleled ease of use.

High-Resolution X-ray Nano-CT System
Micro Photonics and Bruker MicroCT introduce the new Multi-Scale SkyScan 2211 X-ray Nano/Micro tomograph, a high-resolution X-ray nano-CT (computed tomography) system with the widest available range of object sizes and spatial resolutions. With the SkyScan 2211, for the first time one single instrument is capable of non-destructive scanning and 3D reconstruction of internal microstructures of large objects, as well as providing submicron resolution for small samples. This multiscale X-ray nanotomograph opens unique possibilities for 3D imaging and exact modeling of materials in a number of applications, such as oil and gas exploration, composite materials, fuel cells, and electronic assemblies.
