Materials Science Division
Army Research Office
The U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) Materials Science Division seeks to realize unprecedented materials properties by embracing long-term, high risk, high-payoff opportunities with special emphasis on materials design and mechanical behavior of materials; physical properties of materials; and synthesis and processing. This presentation will provide an overview of basic research in advanced materials from the perspective of the U.S. Army, specific current research focus areas within the ARO Materials Science Division, and a summary of the various types of basic research awards available through ARO. Recommended strategies for perspective researchers will be discussed, in addition to some of the most common misunderstandings of perspective researchers when contacting ARO.
