This special session discussed careers in academia, with a focus on preparing for a tenure-track faculty position. The instructors provided insight into the application process, suggestions on how to prepare a competitive faculty application, and an overview of the life of a professor. The event included instructor-led presentations; a live mock interview; and a mock 3-minute “elevator speech”. Participants also received feedback on their CVs, and had the opportunity to practice their own 3-minute elevator speech (to quickly and effectively define themselves and what they do) and to participate in trial interviews.
