About Melanie Parker
Melanie Parker is the Executive Director for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's IT Office of Global Education and Career Development (GECD), which oversees career services, study abroad programs and prehealth advising. With over 25 years of experience in higher education, particularly in career services, she has served in numerous leadership roles with the well-known professional organization, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
Parker was the recipient of the NACE/Chevron Award for innovative and groundbreaking programming in 2005 and GECD was selected as a 2013 innovation Excellence Award Finalist for Marketing and Branding. She has conducted external reviews at numerous universities in the United States as well as internationally. She has presented at numerous national, regional and local conferences and has participated in a number of interviews with the media, including television, newspaper and radio. Parker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Master of Education degree from Mississippi State University, and has completed Global Career Development Facilitator training.
