iMatSci—Innovation in Materials Science

Monday, November 27, 2017
Tuesday, November 28, 2017
Hynes, Level 2, The Hub—Hall D

The iMatSci Innovation Showcase is designed to exhibit technologies that have not yet been productized but where there is a working prototype or evidence of a repeatable process. The entities behind these innovations will generally be early stage and pre-revenue; however iMatSci will also consider showcasing innovative technologies that are emerging from an existing corporate entity.

Program Implementation

Innovators will submit an application and, if selected, will present their technologies at the MRS Fall Meeting in Boston. Technologies must be mature enough to clearly demonstrate their value proposition to the layperson. Applications, including a brief product pitch and URL for viewing a 1-2 minute video, will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstration
  • Stage of Development
  • Uniqueness
  • Market Need
  • Strength of IP Protection

Each of the selected innovators will have space in the Exhibit Hall and will present their technologies using various forms of media such as videos and prototypes. Demonstrations will be judged on-site, with cash prizes awarded, based on clarity, presentation, value proposition, impact and scalability.

Applications were due September 1, 2017.

Who Should Attend

iMatSci is designed for academics and industry professionals interested/involved in the commercialization of materials-based technologies, including student innovators and entrepreneurs, tech transfer, venture capitalists and professional services.

Attendance at iMatSci is provided at no charge and does not require registration for an MRS Meeting. However, in order to attend the technical presentations, poster sessions or other MRS special functions, paid meeting registration is required.
