Call For Papers: Focus Issue on Oxide Semiconductors
Oxide Semiconductors
September, 2012
Submission Deadline: February 15, 2012
Oxide semiconductors are attracting considerable attention for a wide range of potential device applications, from transistors to optical detection and emission. Of particular interest are ZnO and related alloys (e.g., ZnBeO, ZnMgO, CdO, In2O3, Ga2O3, and SnO2). Still, we lack a strong fundamental understanding of defects as well as optical and electronic properties of these materials. Growth and doping also continue to be important issues that need further study. In September 2012, Journal of Materials Research will publish a special Focus Issue highlighting the state of theart of oxide semiconductor technology, spanning materials preparation and fundamental properties to device fabrication and characterization.
Contributed papers are solicited in the following areas:
- Bulk crystal growth
- Homo- and heteroepitaxial thin film growth
- Optical properties
- Defects and doping
- Surface and bulk electronic properties
- Quantum confined structures
- Ferromagnetic layers
- Polarization-engineered structures
- Schottky junction formation and interface properties
- Device process technology, including sensors, detectors and transistors
- Amorphous alloys for thin film transistors

Manuscript Submission
To be considered for this issue, new and previously unpublished results significant to the development of this field should be presented. The manuscripts must be submitted via the JMR electronic submission system by February 15, 2012. Manuscripts submitted after this deadline will not be considered for the issue due to time constraints on the review process. Submission instructions may be found at www.mrs.org/jmr-instructions. Please select “Focus Issue: Oxide Semiconductors” as the manuscript type. All manuscripts will be reviewed in a normal but expedited fashion. Papers submitted by the deadline and subsequently accepted will be published in the Focus Issue. Other manuscripts that are acceptable but cannot be included in the issue will be scheduled for publication in a subsequent issue of JMR.
Please contact jmr@mrs.org with questions.
