2013 JSAP Autumn Meeting - Call for Symposia
2013 JSAP Autumn Meeting
September 16 - 20, 2013
Kyoto, Japan
The Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) and the Materials Research Society (MRS) and excited to jointly sponsor multiple symposia as part of the 2013 JSAP Autumn Meeting, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan on September 16-20, 2013. You are invited to submit a proposal to organize one of these joint JSAP-MRS symposia.
This is the second recent collaborative effort between the two Societies. Eleven joint MRS-JSAP symposia will be held at the upcoming 2012 MRS Spring Meeting, and will help to commemorate both the 80th founding anniversary of “Oyo Buturi” (JSAP monthly journal) and the 50th anniversary of JJAP (Japanese Journal of Applied Physics).
The 2013 JSAP Autumn Meeting in Kyoto will offer a wide range of symposium topics to materials researchers both basic and applied, and it is hoped that the joint JSAP-MRS symposia will further increase an already large international attendance.
Please refer to the attached proposal template and sample proposal to help organize your submittal. You may use a different format if you prefer, but please make sure your proposal includes the following:
- suggested symposium subject and topical areas to be covered
- comments you think are relevant regarding the topic's importance to the materials science community
- names and affiliations of proposed organizers
- short explanation of why each co-organizer is qualified to organize the symposium, or what particular expertise he/she adds to the team
Please send your symposium proposal via e-mail to all of Meeting Chairs. Although proposals had been requested by March 16, 2012, exceptional proposals will still be considered. Click here for an email addressed to all four chairs. (For your convenience, the addresses for the individual chairs are provided below.)
More details about preparing a proposal can be found at http://www.mrs.org/organize-symposium.
Your input is extremely important to help enhance the JSAP-MRS Joint Symposia at the September 2013 JSAP Autumn Meeting. If your proposal is accepted, the Meeting Chairs will contact you in April or May with requests for modifications if necessary.
PUBLISHING NOTE: Papers will be solicited after the meeting for a special issue of JJAP. Organizers will be asked to encourage their presenters to submit papers for the issue. For more details about JJAP special issues, please see http://jjap.jsap.jp/special/index.html. In addition, JSAP and MRS will invite the top papers from each joint MRS/JSAP symposium to submit to the MRS Journal of Materials Research (JMR) or JSAP’s JJAP. The papers will be highlighted as “Invited Feature Papers,” expanding the reach of the meeting’s content to the materials science community.
