The first November issue of the Materials 360 Newsletter features news about a possible alternative to LEDs that is free of rare-earth metals; a scalable new method to construct porous, 3D graphene oxide macrostructures; and an electrolyte-free electrochromic device that functions using graphene quantum dot-viologen nanocomposites.
