  • 2014 MRS Fall Meeting—Day 1

    The 2014 MRS Fall Meeting kicked off on Sunday with the Fred Kavli Distinguished Lectureship in Nanoscience from Lars Samuelson, Lund University; Tutorial T from Hiroshi Amano, Nagoya University, the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics winner; and a variety of professional development sessions.

    The MRS 2014 Fall Meeting continued on Monday with a Plenary Session by Hyuk Chang of Samsung Electronics, Symposium X with Henry Snaith of the University of Oxford, Donald R. Sadoway's keynote address at the Technology Innovation Forum VIII and a variety of technical sessions.


  • 2014 MRS Fall Meeting—Day 3

    Highlights of day 3 of the Fall Meeting include talks from MRS Medalists, Sharon C. Glotzer and Nicholas A. Kotov, University of Michigan and Mercouri G. Kanatzidis, Northwestern University and a Symposium X lecture from Pulickel M. Ajayan, Rice University.


  • 2014 MRS Fall Meeting—Day 4

    Wednesday's issue of the Meeting Scene features the Award Ceremony, the Von Hippel Award Presentation by Marvin L. Cohen of the University of California Berkeley and the Women in Materials Science and Engineering Breakfast. Symposium X and the technical program continued, with a special Rump Session for Hybrid Organic/Inorganic and Related Perovskite-based Solar Cells.


  • 2014 MRS Fall Meeting—Day 5

    Highlights of day 5 of the 2014 MRS Fall Meeting include the David Turnbull Lectureship Award with Rodney S. Ruoff, Ulsan National Institute of Science & Technology and the Materials Theory Award with Long-Qing Chen, The Pennsylvania State University. Also featured are the Science as Art winners and a Symposium X talk from the Materials Genome Initiative.


  • 2014 MRS Spring Meeting—Day 1 & 2

    The 2014 MRS Spring Meeting kicked off on Monday and Tuesday with a tribute to Fred Kavli; the Fred Kavli Distinguished Lectureship in Nanoscience from Yury Gogotsi, Drexel University; the Technology Innovation Forum VII; a symposium X talk from Jillian Banfield, University of California, Berkeley; the Mid-Career Researcher Award talk from Lei Jiang, Chinese Academy of Sciences; the Government Agency Forum and technical sessions.


  • 2014 MRS Spring Meeting—Day 3

    Wednesday was full of activities: a Symposium X talk from Stephen Pennycook, University of Tennessee, Knoxville; the Innovation in Materials Characterization Award talk from Albert Polman, University of Amsterdam; the Awards Ceremony; the Plenary Session speaker, John Tracy, The Boeing Company; the Women in Materials Science and Engineering Breakfast; Science as Art winners and poster award winners.


  • 2014 MRS Spring Meeting—Day 4

    A full slate of technical symposia continued Thursday, punctuated by an amazing Symposium X talk by Pratibha Gai, in which she described and showed videos of catalytic chemical reactions in progress at the atomic level in her E(S)TEM microscope. The Science as Art entries were on display, and the final poster session produced three more winning posters
