Call for Symposium Proposals
Please submit symposium proposals by November 23 via a separate e-mail addressed directly to the 2011 Spring Meeting Chairs.
We would like to request your input on future symposium topics as part of the early stages of planning the technical program for the 2011 MRS Spring Meeting. We want to consider new, rapidly developing areas in Materials Science as well as topics within the traditional core area of the Spring Meeting.
Please send suggested subjects, along with the names and affiliations of possible symposium organizers, via e-mail to: Ping Chen, Chang-Beom Eom, Samuel Mao, and Ryan O’Hayre. (Click here to email all.) Please include any comments you think relevant regarding the topic’s importance to the materials science community, its history, if any, at previous MRS events, and why you and your proposed co-organizers are qualified to organize this symposium. Additional detail about preparing a proposal can be found at http://www.mrs.org/organize_symposium.
If the Meeting Chairs decide to pursue your proposal further, we will get back to you later this year with a request that the information be put into the form of a preliminary Call for Papers. Earlier Calls for Papers can be viewed on the "Previous Meetings" portion of the MRS Web site (http://www.mrs.org/meetings_archives). Putting your proposal into this form as early as possible would certainly expedite the review and approval process.
Your input is extremely important in helping to maintain the breadth and topicality of the MRS meeting. Although we would appreciate hearing your ideas by November 23, we will, of course, do our best to consider any suggestions we receive later on in the planning process as well.
Thank you.
Ping, Chang-Beom, Sam, and Ryan
