Guest Editors: Yueh-Lin Loo and Iain McCulloch

Organic electronics is moving into the commercial phase. Prototypes based on organic transistors fabricated from solution have recently emerged on the market. In addition, organic light-emitting diodes are already in the marketplace. Although organic photovoltaic products are behind their inorganic counterparts, they also are moving closer to commercialization. This issue of MRS Bulletin addresses important advances in semiconductor design and device fabrication techniques, and discusses some of the technical challenges moving beyond prototypes and first generation products.
