Why Corporate Sponsors?

Now in its 14th year of touring, Strange Matter continues to provide branding recognition for sponsors well beyond the original three-year planned tour! The original North American tour has expanded to bring the world of materials science overseas while highlighting sponsors’ support of public education initiatives. Over five million visitors at 52 international science centers have explored Strange Matter.

Why the Materials Research Society?

Derived from an earnest mission to aid in the scientific literacy of the general public, Strange Matter launched MRS as a leading scientific society in STEM education and outreach. MRS next partnered with PBS NOVA to create a television science series, MAKING STUFF, watched by 32 million viewers, and then joined with national science centers to develop the Nanoscale Informal Science Network (NISE Network), a 10-year, $40 million dollar, NSF-sponsored STEM program to foster an understanding of nanoscale science.

For the materials and general public communities: Strange Matter invites 5th-8th grade students and families to explore the fascinating world of materials science with dozens of hands-on experiences while its MRS researchers provide volunteer services for community educational programming. An award winning website (www.strangematterexhibit.com) provides STEM resources for teachers and families to integrate materials science into their classrooms and homes.

For the corporate sponsors: Now in its 13th year of touring, Strange Matter continues to provide branding recognition for sponsors well beyond the original three-year planned tour! Over 5 million visitors at over 50 international science centers have explored Strange Matter while it highlights sponsors’ support of public education initiatives.

And for MRS: Derived from an earnest mission to aid in the scientific literacy of the general public, Strange Matter launched MRS as a leading scientific society in STEM education and outreach. MRS next partnered with PBS NOVA to create a television science series, MAKING STUFF, watched by 32 million viewers, and then joined with national science centers to develop the Nanoscale Informal Science Network (NISE Network), a 10-year, $20 million dollar, NSF-sponsored STEM program to foster an understanding of nanoscale science.

Building on these strengths, MRS is uniquely qualified to deliver public education programs dealing with complex science topics. Strange Matter Green Earth will make this happen on a grander global scale.

Funding Plan

The total cost of the project will approximate $9M. When funds are secured, project development will begin, led by the Ontario Science Centre. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
