Presentation Guidelines

Oral Presentations

  • Contributed presentations are scheduled for 20 minutes.
  • Presentations are 17 minutes with 3 minutes for questions.
  • Standard audiovisual equipment available includes a laptop computer with Microsoft Operating System, an LCD projector, a screen, pointer and a wireless lapel microphone.
  • Speakers should bring their presentations on a USB drive and load their presentation on the session computer at the break preceding their presentation time. (Before the start of the session or during the coffee break.) Powerpoint screen size is 4:3.

Poster PresentationsEMC Poster Area

  • Each presentation will be assigned a board and will be labeled with the number of the paper (e.g. PS04) and the presenting author’s name. If you are a student, “Student” will appear on the card below your name.
  • Poster boards are aligned in a horizontal format of 4’ wide by 3’ high.
  • Push pins for posting will be available on-site.
  • The following information may assist you in preparing an informative and professional poster display:
  • Print TITLE and AUTHORS in extra-large characters (over 1.25” high) across the top of your display.
  • Display your material in large print so it may be read from a distance.  It is important to use text and graphics larger and bolder than those of your manuscript!  Be clear and succinct.

Student Poster Award

There will be an award given for the Best Student Poster. To be eligible, the student presenter must be present at the EMC poster session on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm to discuss their poster and answer any questions.

Poster Session Schedule

Posters will be available for viewing Wednesday and Thursday during the breaks as well as during the dedicated Poster Session itself on Wednesday evening at Lagoon Plaza. Please note the important schedule times below.

Wednesday, June 26

Poster Set-up
9:30 am – 1:30 pm

Poster Viewing
Afternoon Break 3:10 pm - 3:30 pm

Poster Session/Welcome Reception
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

**Authors should stand with their posters during the Poster Session/Welcome Reception to network and answer questions about their presentation. Light refreshments will be provided.

Thursday, June 27

Poster Viewing
Morning Break 10:00 am - 10:20 am
Afternoon Break 3:10 pm - 3:30 pm

Poster Tear-Down
Posters must be removed no later than 5:30 pm on Thursday. It is extremely important that you remove your poster by the tear down deadline. Posters not removed by the deadline will be discarded.
