WARRENDALE, PA - The Materials Research Society and Cambridge University Press have announced that MRS Communications has been selected for coverage in the Thomson Reuters Science Citation Index Expanded® (SciSearch ®).

The Citation Index recognizes journals of key importance in their subject areas and provides a guide to the essential must-read titles in the field. MRS Communications has also been selected for Thomas Reuters' Journal Citation Reports® Science Edition and Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences®.

Launched in 2011 by the Materials Research Society and Cambridge University Press, MRS Communications was the first journal of its kind to establish future directions for the broad materials science community via Prospectives articles. The journal, attracting Open Access and traditional submissions, brings together researchers and professionals from the full range of materials fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and engineering, to identify and report on trends in research.

The inaugural Editor-in-Chief of MRS Communications, Peter F. Green, commented on the announcement: "Our goal when we launched MRS Communications was to make it a primary journal for materials researchers around the world-where scientists aspire to publish their best work and where readers expect to first learn about high impact, cutting-edge materials advances. The inclusion in these important citation indexes in less than two years since launch shows how serious we are about that goal."

Simon Ross, Managing Director for Cambridge Journals, added: "We are delighted that MRS Communications has been chosen for coverage in these respected citation indexes, especially in such a short time since we launched the journal with the Materials Research Society. We all had high expectations for the endeavor and this recognition is a welcome milestone reached. We will continue to strive to meet and exceed the expectations of materials researchers across the world."
