Overview of Research Opportunities—DOE Office of Basic Energy Sciences

Andrew Schwartz

The Department of Energy's Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES) supports fundamental research that provides the foundations for new energy technologies and supports the DOE mission in energy, environment and national security. This presentation will provide an overview of the BES materials sciences research portfolio, including national user facilities that are supported by BES. Research opportunities identified by recent workshops will be summarized. The presentation will also provide guidance on the grant application process, including white papers, as well as online resources for principal investigators.
