Materials Voice Booth—Call for Student Volunteers

Several student volunteers are needed to staff the Materials Voice booth.

Energetic student volunteers will encourage conference attendees to send an email from the booth to their US Congressional representatives regarding matters of importance to the scientific community.

MRS Meeting Scene—Call for Reporters and Bloggers

Graduate students and post-docs who are interested in contributing to the 2022 MRS Fall Meeting Meeting Scene newsletter and the Meeting Blog, either in person or virtually, are encouraged to apply.

Reporters will be required to attend talks in a variety of symposia and write brief summaries (100-250 words) of four talks each day; bloggers will be required to post at least five items per day and also tweet about their experiences at the Meeting. Reporters and Bloggers will have their registration reimbursed up to the Student Rate. In addition, in-person volunteers will receive a stipend of $50 toward their onsite expenses.

To apply, please send an email to newseditor@mrs.org stating your qualifications and your reasons for wanting to report or blog for us. We need only four reporters and four bloggers, so we will not be able to accept everyone who applies. Apply now! We look forward to hearing from you.

Symposium Assistant Positions

Graduate students who are interested in assisting in the symposium sessions during the 2022 MRS Fall Meeting in Boston are encouraged to apply for a symposium assistant position. 

Symposium assistants deliver essential meeting materials to the technical session rooms, monitor audio-visual equipment and room lighting, track and record attendance and perform other tasks requested by the session chairs.

By assisting in a minimum of two days (four half-day sessions), students will receive a complimentary student registration, a one-year MRS student membership commencing January 1, 2023, and limited financial assistance to help defray expenses. Positions are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that no Symposium Assistant positions will be available for the virtual portion of the meeting.

The MRS Fall 2022 Symposium Assistant Application will be posted on September 6, with a submission deadline of September 27.
