Tatsumi Ishihara received a BS degree in applied chemistry in 1984 and a PhD degree in 1989, both from Kyushu University. He joined the School of Engineering Sciences in Kyushu University at 1986, and in 1988, he joined the faculty of engineering in Oita University. In 2003, Ishihara joined the engineering faculty at Kyushu University. He has worked on catalytic chemistry and oxide ion conducting electrolytes. In 1994, he reported the first oxide ion conductivity in LaGaO3 oxide. He is now working on solid oxide fuel cell and electrolyzer. Ishihara has published more than 600 original papers and 100 reviews.
