In collaboration with our global Membership, we have forged an unparalleled legacy of innovation at the leading edge of materials research and look forward to building on our momentum as we continue to invest in our field for years to come. We celebrated reaching this remarkable milestone during our 2023 Spring and Fall Meetings in San Francisco and Boston, respectively. 

As the field’s foremost scientific gatherings, MRS Meetings offer a prime opportunity to present to an international audience, gain high-level recognition, investigate the latest breakthroughs in materials research and connect with leading researchers from around the world.

Timeline of MRS History

Beginning with a vision of a "materials-blind" society in the late 1960s, a few forward-looking individuals, with an eye toward advancing the cause of interdisciplinary research, made that vision a reality—the Materials Research Society, officially founded in 1973.
