Scam Alert

It has come to our attention that fraudulent entities are posing as the Materials Research Society or as representatives of the Materials Research Society. These groups are illegally collecting registration fees and selling Meeting attendee lists and contact information.

Be aware that the only website for information about the Materials Research Society is mrs.org. The only website offering official information about the 2024 MRS Spring Meeting & Exhibit is https://mrs.org/meetings-events/spring-meetings-exhibits/2024-mrs-spring-meeting.

The following are examples of current attempts to scam MRS members and Meeting attendees.

Meeting Registration Sites

Emails are circulating that represent themselves as official MRS registration bureaus, all in an illicit attempt to collect payment from our Meeting registrants.

MRS does not use PayPal or any other online payment collection service.

Proper authorities have been informed of these activities and are working to resolve the issues.

MRS Meeting Attendee/Contact Lists

Unfortunately, unofficial marketing firms have contacted MRS members, potential MRS Meeting attendees and exhibitors about MRS mailing list rentals, including Spring and Fall Meeting registration lists.

MRS takes privacy issues very seriously and does not share information about its members, meeting attendees or exhibitors. These companies are not affiliated with MRS.

Note that official contacts for, and information about, MRS mailing list rentals can be found only at mrs.org/mailing-lists.

Protect Yourself

All email communication from MRS includes the MRS logo and mailing address in the footer. Links in the footer, including those for “Unsubscribe” and “Terms & Conditions”, all link directly to mrs.org and online.mrs.org pages. All registration-related communication comes from @mrs.org addresses. The Materials360 and Meeting Scene newsletters are sent from @multibriefs.com.

Emails originating from email addresses ending in @conferenceorganizers.org and @individualhousing.org, among others, are known to be fraudulent entities posing as MRS representatives.
