Symposium S.SM03-Flexible, Stretchable Biointegrated Materials, Devices and Related Mechanics

Recent advances in materials science and mechanical engineering enable us to realize high-performance systems in soft, flexible/stretchable forms that can readily integrate with the curvilinear and time-dynamic surfaces of the human body. These capabilities create interesting opportunities for diverse electronics with human-machine integration such as bio-medical sensor, optoelectronic/optogenetic devices, and large scale ICs on ultrathin polymers.

This symposium will cover high performance flexible, stretchable, bio-integrated devices and related mechanics along with key considerations in their designs, materials, mechanical structures. Therefore, high performance inorganic and nanoscale materials such as inorganic semiconductors, carbon, and metal oxides, perovskites and their hybrids will be discussed. In addition, our subjects are focused on the mechanics, modeling and design for highly flexible and stretchable inorganic and hybrid materials for bio-integrated applications. The symposium will be open to diverse groups with ultrathin inorganic and hybrid-based flexible/stretchable devices for bio-integrated electronics, optoelectronics, optogenetic devices, sensors, actuators, and energy devices.

  • 3D Micro-structured Stretchable Materials, Devices and Patternings
  • A tutorial complementing this symposium is tentatively planned.
