WARRENDALE, PA—The Materials Research Society (MRS) announces a new appointment to its Board of Directors.

Shenda M. Baker, President and COO of Synedgen Inc, has accepted an appointment to the MRS Board of Directors for 2019.

Baker has been an enthusiastic and committed member of MRS for many years. Most notably, she was instrumental in the development and 2003 launch of the Strange Matter traveling museum exhibition, which has now toured for 16 years across three continents. In addition, she has held positions on many MRS committees including Meetings and Public Outreach, was a chair of the 2008 MRS Fall Meeting, served on the Editorial Advisory Board of MRS Energy & Sustainability, and served on the MRS Board of Directors from 2011-2014, where she chaired the Planning Committee. It is with great pleasure that MRS welcomes her back to the governing board.

The MRS Board of Directors is the governing body of the Materials Research Society and is responsible for setting the strategic direction of major Society activities.
