Prerecorded Virtual Presentations and Virtual Reception
Online

The virtual program will consist of prerecorded, two-minute talks from up-and-coming faculty candidates, and opportunities to virtually connect with both candidates and recruiters throughout The Virtual Meeting week. On Tuesday, December 7, join our Faculty Candidates in Gather.Town as they present their posters live during a Virtual Poster Session.  Registration for the Gather.Town Virtual Poster Session is required and attendance is limited. RSVP Here.

Note: Prerecorded presentations will be accessible throughout the 2021 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit, from November 29, 2021 - January 15, 2022.

This event offers an excellent opportunity for faculty candidates to meet one another and get feedback before their interviews, and for recruiters and search committees to find new faculty candidates.

Faculty candidates who plan to register for the 2021 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit are invited to submit an abstract for this hybrid event.

Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
  • Is the title/abstract engaging?
  • Does the abstract/CV speak to the candidate's research?
  • Does the abstract/CV speak to the candidate's teaching?
  • Does the abstract/CV speak to the candidate's service?

Goals:

  • Provide resources to help early career professionals apply to academic positions
  • Offer a networking opportunity for new faculty candidates and recruiters/search committees
  • Provide a platform for early career professionals to develop their statement of research and teaching/pedagogy and to practice for their interviews

Meeting attendees view posters in an exhibit hall.Abstracts will be reviewed by the MRS Early Career Professionals Subcommittee. The number of accepted presentations is limited; early submissions will receive priority for acceptance.

Abstract acceptance emails will be sent out by November 1, 2021.  If your abstract is accepted, you will be expected to prerecord a 3-minute elevator-type pitch describing your 1) research vision and 2) pedagogy.  Accepted candidates will receive more information about uploading presentations to the Meeting platform.

A tip sheet for prerecording your presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint can be found here »

Abstracts and CVs were due October 24, 2021.
