Research Mentor Training

Sunday, May 8
8:00 am – 12:30 pm
Hawaiʻi Convention Center, Level 3, Room 315

Anne Lynn Gillian-Daniel, University of Wisconsin Anne Lynn Gillian Daniel

Mentor training can make the difference between a mutually beneficial and productive mentoring relationship and one that’s draining for the mentor and discouraging for the mentee. Research Mentor Training is a nationally recognized curriculum that gives participants space to reflect and reinvigorate and provides concrete tools to support a successful mentor/mentee relationship.

During the workshop, participants:

  • Explored multiple strategies for effective mentoring through case studies based on real situations, discussions and readings
  • Compared mentor and mentee goals and crafted a statement of a mentoring philosophy
  • Explored time-management strategies and discussed relevant issues as they came up
  • Collaborated and problem-solved with a group of peers
