Materials Research Society-National Science Foundation PREM Research Scholars Summit—Graduate School Application Workshop

Are you considering pursuing a graduate degree but don’t know where to begin? In this workshop, we will discuss the differences between graduate and undergraduate studies, the different program options available, when to apply, how to apply and options to pay for your studies. 

This event is being presented in partnership with the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a part of the MRS-NSF PREM Research Scholars Summit.  All are welcome to attend.

 

Tania Betancourt, Texas State University

Tania Betancourt is originally from Bogota, Col obtained her BS degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University in 2002, and her MS and PhD degrees in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and 2008, respectively. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, a faculty member of the Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization Program, and Director of the NSF PREM Center for Intelligent Materials Assembly at Texas State University. Betancourt leads the research of the Biomaterials and Nanomedicine Laboratory, which focuses on the development of functional polymeric nanostructures for the detection, monitoring, and treatment of cancer and other diseases. Her research interests also expand to the investigation of strategies to increase the participation and success of underrepresented students in STEM.
